Women's Tennis Adds Two Newcomers


FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's tennis head coach Dianne Matias added two newcomers to the squad this season in Petra Such and Eira Tobrand.

Such, a native of Budaörs, Hungary, is a junior college transfer from Cerritos College. She was named the conference's Player of the Year and also received the ITA Region I Rookie of the Year award. She spent freshman year as the team's No. 1 singles player and went 17-4 on the year. She was the South Coast Conference singles and doubles champion. As a sophomore, Such won the ITA Doubles championship and went on to finish sixth at the ITA Oracle Cup.

Tobrand, who hails from Gothenburg, Sweden, is a sophomore who transferred to Fullerton from Southern Utah. She was named Freshman of the Year for the Big Sky Conference and earned first-team all-conference honors. Tobrand made it to the semifinals of the conference championships and went 19-5 (14-2 on court three, 5-2 on court two, 0-1 on court one) overall on the year.
