FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team extended its winning streak with a 4-0 victory over the CSUN Matadors on Friday, at the Titan Tennis Courts.
The Titans started off solid as they took two of the three doubles court in their favor. Court one forcibly finished first as Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin defeated El Hadj /Dinklemeyer, 6-1. The powerful duo is now 6-1 in dual for the season.
Genevieve Zeidan and Masako Makiba, unfortunately, fell to the tandem of Alcon/ Van De Vondel 3-6, however, that did not stop the Titans from losing their stride. With the doubles point hanging in the balance, Caisey Lee Emery and Luxizi Meng bested Kim/Taslagyan 6-4 to put Fullerton up 1-0.
Singles play proved the momentum stayed on Fullerton's side as the first singles point was claimed on court number two. No. 97 Genevieve Zeidan took down Van De Vondel 6-3, 6-0. Zeidan is 4-0 on court number two and 16-2 overall for the season.
Sarah Nuno was next to finish as she defeated Hadj 6-4, 6-3. Nuno moves to 5-2 in dual competition.
To finalize the match, Karla Portalatin clinched the fourth point on the number three court with a win over Alcorn 6-1, 6-4. Fullerton is now 6-1 (2-0) for the season.
The Titans look to keep their momentum going into tomorrow as they travel to Los Angeles to take on LMU at 10:00 a.m. PT.
