FULLERTON, Calif. – Head Coach Kelly Ford and the Cal State Fullerton softball team will look to make more history in the spring as they have announced their schedule for the 2020 season.
Season tickets for the 2020 softball season will go on sale Monday, Dec. 2 and season ticket renewals will be mailed shortly. For additional ticket information call the Athletics Ticket Office at 657-278-2783 or email email@example.com.
This year's schedule is highlighted by 10 teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season including four programs that made it to the Super Regional round headlined by the national champion UCLA Bruins. The schedule is also loaded up with eleven teams in the Power 5 conferences, the most matchups in a single-season in recent years.
"I'm very excited about our competitive schedule for the 2020 season," says coach Ford. "We have a lot of great, high RPI matchups especially against some strong Power 5 schools and some international play mixed in against the Canadian National Team that will really prepare us for our conference schedule."
The Titans will once again be tournament loaded for the first two months of the season hosting three and participating in three more. First on the list is the annual Titan Classic for opening weekend (Feb. 6-9) with CSF playing five games in four days starting with Middle Tennessee on Thursday, Feb. 6. They will follow up opening night with San Jose State on Friday and a double-header on Saturday against Utah State and Pacific starting. The Titans will close out the weekend with Loyola Marymount on Sunday.
Fullerton will head south to San Diego State for the second weekend of the season to play in the Campbell Cartier Tournament. There they will play four games in two days taking on BYU and host SDSU on Friday, February 14 and close it out on Saturday with a double-header against BYU and Southern Utah.
Weekend number three will be back at the Mary Nutter Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. This year, the Titans will face four Power 5 schools in two days. On Saturday, February 22, CSF will take on Utah and Notre Dame in a double-header and close out the weekend with another double-header on Sunday against Oregon State and Arizona State.
Following the Nutter, Cal State Fullerton returns home to host the prestigious Judi Garman Classic. As it does every year, the lineup of teams is stacked with some of the best teams in the nation. The Titans will play six games in four days starting with a double-header on Thursday, February 27 against Texas Tech and Cal. Friday, they will face Boise State and then Illinois on Saturday. Fullerton closes out the biggest on-campus tournament in the country with a pair of Sunday games starting with Washington and ending with Fresno State.
Next on the schedule is the Louisville Slugger Invitational hosted by rival Long Beach State. That schedule is to be announced.
The Titans take a break from tournament play with a midweek matchup against Central Florida at Anderson Family Field on Wednesday, March 11.
Fullerton will play their final tournament of the non-conference schedule, hosting the Easton Invitational March 12-15. The weekend opens up with the Titans taking on Boston University on Thursday, March 12 followed by Sacramento State on Friday. The Titans close out the weekend with Harvard on Saturday and then Cal Baptist on Sunday.
The Titans will play four more games before opening up Big West play as they host LMU for a three game series from March 19-20 before facing the Toreros of USD on Wednesday, March 25 at Anderson Family Field.
Saturday, March 28 will be the start of conference play as Fullerton hosts rival Long Beach State for a three-game set. The rest of the Big West slate goes as follows: at CSUN (April 3-4), UC Riverside (April 10-11), at Cal Poly (April 18-19), UC Santa Barbara (April 24-25), at Hawaii (May 1-2), and closing out the season against UC Riverside (May 8-9).
There will be a couple of breaks in the conference action as the Titans take on the defending national champion UCLA Bruins at Anderson Family Field on Thursday, April 16, as well as an exhibition game against the Canadian National Team on Tuesday, April 21.
The Titans will look to continue its success coming off their fourth straight Big West Conference title. They return the majority of last year's team, including eight of the nine starters while welcoming in a host of new talent with six incoming freshmen and one transfer.
