Titan Softball Unveils 2016 Fall Schedule

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton softball team looks to continue its success from last spring into the fall as the program released its 2016 fall schedule, coach Kelly Ford announced on Thursday.

The schedule features eight games, including three doubleheaders that will played at Anderson Family Field. 

Up first, Fullerton will have two games against San Diego and Arizona State on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Titans begin the day with San Diego at noon and face the Sun Devils at 4 p.m. PT.

In between those two games, San Diego and Arizona State will play a neutral site game against each other at 2 p.m. PT. 

On Oct. 28, the Titans return to action with evening games against Cal State San Bernardino at 4 p.m. PT and Mt. SAC at 6 p.m. PT. San Bernardino will kick off the day with a matchup against Riverside Community College at 2 p.m. PT.

The next day Fullerton will head to Loyola Marymount for its only road match of the fall as they take on the Lions at 2 p.m. PT on Oct. 29 at Smith Field. 

CSUF's final doubleheader of the fall will be on Nov. 4 at Anderson Family, where the Titans will face Allan Hancock at 1 p.m. PT and Vanguard at 5 p.m. PT. Both Fullerton opponents will provide a break between the doubleheader by going head-to-head at 3 p.m. PT.  

To close out the fall, Cal State Fullerton will battle UCLA on Nov. 6 at 12 p.m. PT. 

The Titans are coming off a season in which they finished 45-16 overall and 17-4 in Big West play to win their first conference title since 2006. Also, Fullerton made its first NCAA Regional Appearance since 2009. CSUF returns six players who received all-conference honors last season, including 2016 Big West Freshman Pitcher of the Year, Sydney Golden.

Fullerton welcomes seven new players to the program, including freshman Kelsie Whitmore who signed a second contract with the Sonoma Stompers Professional Baseball Club back in June, which cemented he place as a trailblazer for the advancement of women in baseball.
