Men's Golf Heads to Hawai'i Looking to Secure Big West Championship

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's golf looks to finish the season strong at the 2019 Big West Championships Monday, April 29 and Tuesday, April 30 at the Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Hawai'i.

The Titans head into the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the conference. Fullerton will be paired up with No. 2 UC Davis and No. 3 Long Beach State in the first round with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The Titans have posted an impressive resume as the No. 1 seed coming into the tournament. They have seven top 3 finishes and are led by the duo of Derek Castillo and Matt Wilson.

Along with Castillo and Wilson, the Titans will feature Dalton Daniel, Jack Dyer, and Michael Sharkey in the lineup.

The Titans have also earned back-to-back Big West Golfers of the Month for March and April. Jack Dyer was the recipient in March, and Matt Wilson received the honors in April.

Tournament Seeding: The remaining seeds include Santa Barbara Gauchos at No. 4, paired with defending champion UC Irvine at No. 5 and No. 6 Cal Poly. They are set to tee off at 8:20 a.m. No. 7 Hawai'i, No. 8 Riverside, and No. 9 CSUN round out the groups.

The 54-hole, two-day tournament is set to play on Wailua Golf Course, a par 72, 6,991 yard course. The winner advances to the NCAA Division I men's regionals.

Last time on the Green: The Titans finished in third place at the El Macero Classic with a score of 7-over par 871. Matt Wilson finished tied for second place individually with an overall score of 2 under-par 214.
