ELK GROVE, Calif. – After holding the top spot at the conclusion of round two, Cal State Fullerton men's golf held onto their lead to win the Sacramento State Invitational Tuesday at the Valley Hi Country Club.
The Titans shot 1-under par 287 on the final day of the tournament, finishing with a final score of 17-under par 847 and setting the tournament record.
The Titans dominated the tournament, winning by a margin of 7 strokes over rival Long Beach State.
Titan's Jack Dyer finished in first place individually with scores of 69, 68, and 71. Dyer finished the tournament with an overall score of 10-under par 206.
The Titans had four players finish inside the top 20. They were the only team to have more than two players finish in the top 20.
Derek Castillo finished eighth with an overall score of 5-under par 211. This is Castillo's seventh top ten finish, and the third in a row.
Dalton Daniel finished the tournament tied for 33rd, with an overall score of 3-over par 219.
Both players finished tied for 39th, posting a score of 4-over par 220. They both shot their best rounds of the tournament in round 3.
Fullerton is back in action March 11 and 12 at the Olympic CLub Intercollegiate tournament in San Francisco.
