Castillo Sits One Stroke Behind Leaders Heading Into Final Round

Elk Grove, Calif. – After day one of the Sacramento State Invitational at the Valley Hi Country Club, Fullerton finished in fourth place with a 9-over par 585.

First-year transfer Derek Castillo leads the way individually for the Titans with a 2-under par 142. Castillo shot an impressive 3-under par 69 in the second round after shooting a 1-over par 73 in the first round.

Castillo sits just one stroke behind leaders Brett Bennett from UC Santa Barbara and Nick Catlay from Long Beach who are tied with a 3-under par 141.

Mark Cobey sits tied in 14th place after day one with a score of 3-over par 147. Cobey bounced back in round two with a 2-under par 70 after shooting a 5-over par 77 in round one.

Matt Wilson is just one shot back of Cobey with a score of 4-over par 148 to slot him tied for 20th heading into day two of the tournament.

Martin Manalo is tied for 25th at 5-over par 149 while Dalton Daniel is tied for 37th with a score of 7-over par 151.

As a team the Titans sit just six strokes behind leaders Long Beach State heading into the third and final round of the tournament Tuesday morning with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. PT.
