LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Kurt Suzuki and his Washington Nationals defeated Justin Turner and the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-3 in 10 innings, in a winner-take-all game five of the NLDS. With the series win, the Nats will face the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLCS as they look to advance to the World Series.
Suzuki went 0-for-1 with a walk and a hit by pitch in the series clincher. He was removed from the game in the seventh inning after a Walker Buehler fastball ran inside and hit him in the left hand before ricocheting into his face. For the series, the former Titan played in four of the five games and posted a .308 on-base percentage playing a crucial role as the Washington backstop.
This will be the first time in Suzuki's 13-year career that he willl appear in a MLB postseason championship series.
On the other side, Turner had a great series for the Dodgers posting a .286 average with two doubles, two home runs, and five RBI. One of those home runs came as part of a historic seven-run sixth inning in game three of the series while the other came in the first inning of game four.
Game one of the NLCS will be in St. Louis tomorrow night on TBS at 5:08 p.m. PT.
