FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton heads to the Valley for the final series of the regular season against CSUN beginning Thursday afternoon at the Matador Baseball Field.
The Titans head into the final series with a .500 record at 25-25 along with a 11-10 record in Big West Conference play to leave them fourth in the conference. CSUN is 22-30 on the season and are sixth in the Big West with a 8-13 conference record.
Mitchell Berryhill looks to continue his strong play and leave a lasting legacy with one of the highest batting averages in a single season in the history of the program. Berryhill currently has a .414 average which would rank him fifth all-time right ahead of legendary Titan Kurt Suzuki. Berryhill's average ranks sixth in the country and first in the Big West.
Hank LoForte goes into the series with 17 triples in his career which ranks tied for second for most triples in a career in the history of the program. Dante Powell holds the record with 18 triples in his career from 1992-1994.
Fullerton's probable starter for game one Thursday appears to be Timothy Josten. The southpaw has been dealing as of late, giving up only three runs in his last four appearances. His last start came against Long Beach State where he went six innings, giving up just four hits and no runs.
Tanner Bibee will stick to his normal Friday start and Gavin Velasquez will finish the series off on Saturday as he did last weekend against Long Beach State. Both pitched six innings against the Dirtbags and allowed just one run.
