Titans Receive Third Top 30 Ranking of Preseason

Perfect Game Release

FULLERTON, Calif. – Another day, another preseason ranking for the Titans, as Cal State Fullerton has been placed at No. 28 in Perfect Game's 2019 Preseason Top-40 poll, the publication released on Wednesday.

The Titans have now been ranked in each of the first three preseason polls of the season. They were tabbed 18th in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's preseason rankings last month and 25th in D1Baseball's rankings earlier this week..

The Titans enter the new season after hosting its 10th Super Regional in the history of the program and its 14th Super Regional appearance overall in. Fullerton has four teams ranked in the top-25 on its schedule for the 2019 season including top ranked Vanderbilt.

For the Titans, it'll be a good mix of returners and newcomers that should make up a team worthy of its top-25 preseason ranking. Fullerton welcomes back seven of the nine starting field players from a season ago including double-play duo Hank LoForte and Sahid Valenzuela. The Titans are strong at every position up the middle with Daniel Cope behind the plate and Mitchell Berryhill in centerfield.

Cal State Fullerton should be consistent at the plate as usual, especially with five of its seven top hitters returning for the 2019 season. LoForte led the team in hitting last year with a .339 average.

Fans will get their first opportunity to see the 2019 Titans on Jan. 26 at Goodwin Field, as Fullerton will hold its annual Alumni Game at 1 p.m. PT. Fullerton begins the season at the MLB4 Tournament against TCU, Virginia and top-ranked Vanderbilt before returning for the home opener against Washington in a rematch of last year's Super Regional at Goodwin Field.
