NEW YORK – It wasn't the postseason run the Oakland Athletics were hoping for, but the two former Cal State Fullerton Titans certainly did their part in the American League Wild Card Game, Wednesday evening at Yankee Stadium. New York defeated Oakland 7-2 to advance to the American League Division Series, but Khris Davis and Matt Chapman were responsible for the A's only two runs in the game.

Davis showed why he was Major League Baseball's regular season home run king, as he added another to his 2018 total in the eighth inning. Overall, Davis went 1-for-4 with a dinger, run scored and two RBI on the evening. Chapman logged his very first big league postseason knock as well, going 1-for-5 from the dish.

With Oakland trailing 6-0 entering the eighth inning, the former Titans did their part to try and get the A's back in it. Chapman led off the frame with a hard hit single up the middle on a 1-1 count to give Oakland hope.

Two batters later, Davis did what he does best, blasting the very first pitch he saw into the right field bleachers for a two-run shot to make it a 6-2 ballgame. The home run was Davis' first postseason hit.

Justin Turner, Dylan Floro and Kurt Suzuki will be the next Titans competing in the postseason, as the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers will open up their National League Division Series at Dodger Stadium, Thursday at 5:37 pm PT on MLB Network.
