LA JOLLA, Calif. --- Junior Trevor Gorwin became a two-time Cal State Fullerton record holder on Saturday as his throw of 60'9.25" (18.52 meters) in the shot put set the new Titan program record at the Triton Invitational.

Gorwin now holds the Fullerton record in both the hammer and the shot put as his mark on Saturday surpassed Don Turri's throw of 59'11" (18.26 m) which had stood since 1973. The Yucca Valley, Calif., native became the first Titan to exceed the 200' mark in the hammer throw on April 7, before becoming the first Titan to surpass the 60' mark in the shot put on Saturday.

At the Michael Johnson Invitational at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium on the campus of Baylor, Anthony Applequist placed second overall in the triple with a mark of 50'6.25".

On the women's side, senior Ty'Jalayah Robertson placed third with a personal best mark of 40'9" in the triple jump.

"In Waco the conditions took us by surprise," head coach John Elders said. "The weather was very cool and very windy - conditions we are not accustomed to. That being said, I thought our student-athletes competed well overall, and it was good preparation for the NCAA Regional meet in Austin later this year, so this was a good lesson."

Malik Johnson tied for third in the high jump with a mark of 6'8" (2.03m), while sophomore Diego Courbis placed third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 53.41.

Senior Ifunanya Gwacham's time of 14.87 in the 100 hurdles was also a PR.

Freshman Sam Schubert continues to improve his 110 hurdles time, placing fourth and setting a PR of 14.62.

The Titans return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Steve Scott Invite in Irvine and at the Fresno State Invitational on Saturday.
