FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton Athletics hosted the fifth annual Fullerton Athletics Career Expo (FACE) in what is always an exceptional professional networking experience for our 350+ student-athletes in our very own Titan Gym.
"I was very pleased with how the event went this year," Life Skills Coordinator/Academic Advisor Shakayla Collins said. "We were able to bring in different employers for our student-athletes to interact with than what we've had in the past and there was a great energy in the gym. The student-athletes were engaging with all of the employers and made the most of the time they had with them."
Fullerton student-athletes had the opportunity to visit with 50 different companies and organizations. The expo provided the chance for our students to be able to visit with a vast array of potential employers and start to build relationships that hopefully lead to obtaining full-time jobs and/or internships upon graduation. On the other hand, potential employers were able to see firsthand what sets Cal State Fullerton students above the rest.
"These opportunities aren't very common and I'm very appreciative of the companies that took time out of their nights to meet with our student-athletes and show them that they are wanted in the workforce," Collins said. "I am also grateful for the support from our entire athletics department in promoting the event, and the AAS staff for volunteering their time at the event."
In addition to standard booths, the expo featured five "Play Stations". The stations gave Titan student-athletes a unique opportunity to interact together and master proper interview etiquette and technique. Students were able to receive constructive feedback from everything to mastering a 30 second pitch to a professional dress evaluation and a resume critique.
Among the different booths were Nike, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, CSUF Centers for Careers in Teaching, E&J Gallo Winery, Federal Bureau of Investigation and many more.
