Greg Paules currently serves as the Sr. Director of Development/ Associate Athletic Director, Development. In his role with the Titans, Paules provides management, supervision, and strategic direction for athletic fundraising and corporate sponsorships. He also is the sport supervisor for Men’s Basketball and Men’s Soccer. Serving on the senior athletic leadership team, Paules has been instrumental in helping to set measurable goals, create a vision, and change a department culture. Serving as the primary liaison between Athletics, University Advancement, and Alumni Relations, Paules has collaborated and strengthened relationships across campus departments. He regularly represents the athletic department in presentations to the President’s Athletic Advisory Council, Academic Senate, and the Associated Student, Inc. Governing Board.
Paules joined the Cal State Fullerton Athletic Department in 2013. In his first full fiscal year with the Titans Paules turned around a development unit that had seen four straight years of declining giving, yielding nearly a half a million dollar improvement. By year two Paules and his team were setting records for most dollars raised in a single year. The bar continues to be raised as the last four years represent the top four single fundraising years in Titans history. He has worked with a volunteer golf committee to build a seven figure golf endowment and created a planned giving program that has led to more than $5 million in estate commitments. He previously served as the sport supervisor for Men’s Golf, Women’s Golf, and Tennis.
Paules came to Cal State Fullerton from the University of California, Irvine Athletic Department where he served in a variety of external relation roles beginning as a marketing intern in 2005. He worked his way up from an unpaid intern to the right hand of the Athletic Director, serving as the Special Assistant to the Athletic Director with an emphasis on External Relations beginning in 2009. Advising the AD and senior staff, Paules elevated the athletic program’s external footprint. Serving as the department brand manager, Paules implemented new policies to increase brand consistency and strengthen the UC Irvine Athletics brand in the community. He led a website redesign and created new marketing opportunities with a Corporate Holiday Program. Paules then added development oversight of the Anteater Athletic Fund from 2011-2013. While spearheading all aspects of annual giving, membership hit an all-time high and giving saw a six figure increase year-over-year.
Active in the community, Paules sits on the Boys & Girls Club of Fullerton Board of Directors. He also is extremely involved with the National Association of Athletic Directors of Development (NAADD) having served as a Big West Conference Representative since 2015. Invited to participate in the Athletic Director Mentorship Program, Paules has gained valuable experience with his involvement with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
Before entering his career in intercollegiate athletics, Paules spent time working at a boutique wealth management firm in Newport Beach, Calif. and as a test center administrator for graduate and advanced degree programs in Lake Forest, Calif. A native of Pasadena, Calif., Paules graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a minor in education from the UC Irvine and earned a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from the Paul Merage School of Business in 2009. At the Merage School of Business, Paules served as President of the Sports and Entertainment Business Club and was the youngest MBA graduate in the school’s history. Paules resides in Orange, Calif. with his wife Peggy and daughters, Lyla and Eve.
