Irvine, Calif. - Freshman Kayla Neto continued to put together an impressive rookie season, providing performances this past weekend to propel the Titans to a pair of conference wins, one of which was against first place UC Davis.
Neto tied her career high in kills with 19 on Friday night as the Titans upset the league leading Aggies. She hit .400 on the night, committing just three errors in 40 swings. She also added a pair of aces, four digs and two blocks in the win.
The 6-foot-2 middle blocker/outside hitter from Clarksburg, Calif., then went out on Saturday night and created a new career high in kills, blasting 22 in just 32 swings. She had just 4 miscues and hit .562 on the night as the Titans upended visiting Pacific, to split the season series with the Tigers.
Neto hit .472 on the weekend and connected for 4.56 kills per set as the Titans won their second and third straight matches for the first time since opening the season with six straight victories.
