Services Set for Former Coach Fran Cummings

Fullerton, Calif. - A memorial service for former Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball coach Fran Cummings will be held Sunday, June 5, at 4 p.m. at Pacific Country Club in San Clemente.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Fran Cummings Memorial Scholarship at Santiago Community College, attention: SCC Foundation, 8045 E. Chapman Ave., Orange, CA 92868.

Fran passed away early in the morning of May 31 at the age of 51 after a bout with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rod, and 21-year-old twin sons Michael and Eric.

After her tenure at Fullerton (1980-88), she she became the general manager of the Los Angeles Starlights of Major League Volleyball. Cummings continued to coach and teach for several years at Saddleback College and Santa Ana College. She later became an administrator and served as director of athletics at Santiago Community College.
