Northridge, Calif. - Harmony Burdine hit .351 with 16 kills and 12 digs to lead Cal State Northridge to a 3-0 (30-28, 30-23, 30-23) sweep of Cal State Fullerton in a Big West conference volleyball match at the Matadome Thursday night.
Fullerton drops their fifth straight match and fall to 11-10 overall and 3-5 in conference. CSUN snapped an eight-game losing streak and improve to 4-15, 2-6.
The closest the Titans came to victory was in the first game when they out-hit the Matadores .333 to .289, but trailed by two in the error column, the difference in the game.
Both Alyssa Opeka and Danielle Hitzeman led the Titans with 12 kills with Opeka tacking on 10 digs as well. It was Opeka's fourth double-double of the season. Brittany Moore led the Titans by hitting .400 on the night, killing 11 balls with only one error.
Sophomore Vanessa Vella led the Fullerton squad with 16 digs but was out-done by Northridge's libero Jaime Crawford. Vella started the week 17th in the country in digs per game.
Opeka and Amanda Pfielschiefter stuffed four Northridge kill attempts to pace the Titans with Opeka tallying one solo block. Val Kepler led all players with six blocks.
Setter Julie Geissert picked up 41 assists Thursday night bumping her career total to 1299, good for sixth all-time in Titan history.
