Irvine, Calif. - Behind Lauren Kellerman's 18 kills and four service aces, UC Irvine picked up their first Big West Conference win and handed Cal State Fullerton their fourth straight loss as the Anteaters toppled the Titans, 3-1 (30-22, 21-30, 32-30, 30-27), Saturday night in front of 205 people at Crawford Court.

Despite being out-hit, out-blocked and out-dug, Irvine landed more kills and picked up 14 service aces to improve to 7-12 overall and 1-5 in conference play, while the Titans go 0-2 on the week, for the second straight week, and fall to 11-9, 3-4.

Sarah Morrison led the offensive attack for Fullerton, picking up 16 kills, while Danielle Hitzeman followed closely with 14 kills and a .414 attack percentage.

Three other Anteaters picked up 10-or-more kills to go along with Kellerman's game-leading figure. Amanda Vasquez (17), Whitney Pavlik (12) and Trisha White (12) added kills in double-digits despite the Titans out-hitting the Anteaters .257 to .250 on the match.

Fullerton out-blocked Irvine as a team 12-10 with both Amanda Pfielschiefter and Alyssa Opeka leading all players with 7 blocks apiece. Vanessa Vella, one night removed from her lowest dig total of the season, got back on track and led all players with 22 digs. Hitzeman and Morrison added 14 and 12 respectively to aid the Titan defense.

Cal State Fullerton will be back in action Thursday night at Cal State Northridge and again on Saturday at Pacific to start the second round of conference play. Both games have a 7:00 p.m. service time.
