Irvine, Calif. - Brittany Moore blasted a season-high 25 kills and hit .328 as Cal State Fullerton defeated UC Irvine 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 11-25, 25-21) Saturday night at Crawford Court.
The Titans handed the Anteaters their first Big West Conference loss and improved their overall record to 8-10. The Titans also evened their conference record at 2-2 with a pair of weekend victories. Irvine dropped to 7-9, 2-1.
The Titans took a 2-0 set lead heading into the break after posting attack percentages of .400 and .286, respectively. UC Irvine came out of the break to hand Fullerton its second worst set loss of the year (25-11), but the Titans rallied back to take the final set for the win.
Erin Saddler also posted double-digits in kills (10) and picked up another four service aces upping her weekend total to nine for Fullerton.
Kari Pestolesi had 16 kills for UC Irvine also adding 17 digs to pace the home team in both categories. Three Titans recorded double figures in digs, led by Cami Croteau who scooped a match-high 17.
The Anteaters out-blocked the Titans 7.0 to 5.5 and were led by Pestolesi and Alexandra Hauser with four block assists. Moore and Jennifer Edmond each posted three blocks, with Moore collecting a solo and a pair of block assists.
The Titans next hit the court next weekend against Cal State Northridge on the road Oct. 11 before hosting Bucknell in a rare Sunday match at Titan Gym on Oct. 12.
