Fullerton, Calif. - A career-high double-double effort from Jennifer Francisco and 19 kills by Brittany Moore led Cal State Fullerton to a 3-1 (30-27, 30-28, 16-30, 30-24) Big West Conference volleyball win over Pacific Saturday night at Titan Gym.
Fullerton jumped to two games over .500 for the first time this season, improving to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in league, while Pacific dropped to 7-3, 1-1.
After being held to a .000 attack percentage in game three, Moore took charge in the fourth frame, blasting seven her 19 kills including the match winner. Ten errors in the third game hindered the Titans from nabbing their second straight league sweep.
Francisco set career highs in kills (16) and digs (20) hitting .405 on the night adding a block assist to boot. The Titans' Alex Wolnisty and Erin Saddler also combined for 26 kills and nine blocks in the win.
Pacific's Alexa Anderson (22) and Svenja Engelhardt (23) led the Tigers offensively, with Anderson hitting .477 to lead all players. Shannon Krug benefited from the Tiger hitters performances, collecting 60 assists. Engelhart also led all players with 6 service aces. Fullerton's Julie Geissrt had four.
The Titans return to the floor Tuesday night, as they host LMU at Titan Gym at 7 pm.
NOTES: The Titans are 2-0 to start league play for just the second time in the school's history. The record is 3-0 to start league play and was set by the 2005 quad... Fullerton has now won five of the last six meetings with Pacific after suffering a 0-42 losing stretch dating back to their first meeting back in 1984.
