San Diego, Calif. - For the second time in one day, Cal State Fullerton sophomore Erin Saddler carried the Titans to victory, this time posting 23 kills in a 3-1 win over Southern Miss in match five of the USD Volleyball Tournament at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
The Titans match their season best winning streak with their second consecutive victory and improve to 4-6 on the year. The Golden Eagles drop to 7-3.
Saddler, who in the earlier match on Saturday posted 19-kills to set a career high, out-did herself in the evening match in which she also notched an ace and a block assist.
Brittany Moore and Alex Wolnisty also tallied double-digits in kills with the latter, hitting a whopping .588 and also knocking down nine blocks at the net. Wolnisty's nine blocks (2 solos) led al players and paced the Titans in the blocking department 9.0 to 8.0 over the Eagles. Moore also led al players with three service aces.
The Titans and Golden Eagles went into extra time in set number one with Southern Miss coming out on top 30-28. Fullerton then rallied for three straight wins with no victory coming with more than a three-point differential (25-23, 25-22, 25-22).
An all-tournament team will be selected following the last match of the tournament.
The Titans return home for a match on Tuesday night with San Diego State before hosting the Crown Plaza Volleyball Classic at Titan Gym over the weekend.
