Ducks Beat TItans 3-1 in Final Match of Portland State Tourney

Portland, Ore. - Cal State Fullerton finishes the Crown Plaza Volleyball Showcase 2-2 as it was defeated by the University of Oregon in a non-conference Volleyball match up Saturday night in Portland, Oregon. The Titans were defeated by the Ducks 18-30, 26-30, 30-27, and 18-30 in the four-game match in Stott Center with Oregon's Kelly Russell leading the way with 22 kills and 25 total points.
Fullerton managed just a .168 hitting percentage on the night, unable to break .200 in any one game. Brittany Moore continued to hit for average as she collected 10 kills and hit .474 on the match. Moore is leading the team in hitting percentage at .366 and is one of five Titans to play in every game this season. Alyssa Opeka led the Titans with 12 kills on the night, but committed 11 hitting errors in 38 attempts (.026).
Fullerton falls to 5-4 on the season while the Ducks improve to 7-1.
Moore and Amanda Pfielschiefter both collected 4 blocks, with Moore stuffing one Duck kill attempt all by herself. The Titans did outblock the Ducks 9.5 to 4 though the Ducks led in all the other major categories.
Oregon's Katie Swoboda led all players with 20 digs with Fullerton's Vanessa Vella right behind her with 17.
The Titans will return home for next weekend's Hawthorn Suites Fullerton Classic which brings San Jose State, SMU and Loyola Marymount to Fullerton. Fullerton will lock horns with San Jose State Friday night at 7:00 in Titan Gymnasium.
