Schneider Has Career Night, but Titans Drop Hard-Fought Match on Tuesday

Box Score

FULLERTON, Calif.- Madeline Schneider was spectacular, recording a career-high 25 kills on a .368 attacking percentage, but it wasn't quite enough as CSU Bakersfield outlasted Fullerton 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-18, 25-19), Tuesday evening inside Titan Gym.

The Titans (4-13) snapped what was a 12-set losing after clawing their way to a 26-24 second set victory. Fullerton received big contributions from a number of different players, has Meagan Carlson complimented Schneider's big night recording her fourth double-digit kills performance of the season with 11.

Nastassja Bowman produced her team-best seventh double-double of the year with 49 assists and 15 digs, while Schneider also put up a double-double with 12 digs in addition to her 25 kills.

Cady Francis led the squad with a career-best 19 digs, while Savahna Costello and Katie Roux each recorded 17 and 16 digs respectively. Alayne Thompson had three blocks in what was an overall team effort.

Tuesday was certainly a match where the Titans played well enough to win, as CSUB and the Titans went back and forth in the opening set, with each side striking for 16 kills. However the Roadrunners managed to hang on 25-21.

The second set was more of the same, but the Titans managed to put together one of their best sessions of the season, recording 20 kills and just four errors for a .364 hitting percentage. Trailing by as many as five points, Fullerton rallied late to grind out the 26-24 second set victory to knot things up at 1-1.

The Titans continued to battle in the third set, but couldn't quite sustain the momentum, dropping a 25-18 decision.

With its back against the wall, Fullerton continued to battle in the fourth, but ultimately fell 25-19.

Fullerton will hit the road this weekend, as it'll take on UC Riverside at 4 pm inside SRC Arena.
