Cal Poly Gets By Fullerton on Friday

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Cal Poly proved why it's considered one of the best squads in the Big West, as the Mustangs defeated the Titans 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-13), Friday night inside the Mott Athletics Center.

For Fullerton (4-10, 0-2 Big West), the match was the first conference road test of the season and just the Titans fourth three-set loss of the season.

Summer Kerins led the Titans in kills for the first time this year, as she recorded six kills in the match. On the other end of the court Shimen Fayad led Fullerton with seven digs.

Cal Poly (12-2, 2-0) fired on all cylinders early, cruising to a 25-12 first set victory, as it hit .542 for the set. Fullerton picked things up in the second set, hitting a match high .161, but it wasn't enough as the Mustangs prevailed, winning the second set 25-16.

Cal Poly then finished things off with a 25-13 third set victory.

The Titans will be back in action tomorrow, as they'll take on UC Santa Barbara at 7 pm PT inside the Thunderdome.
