Titans Conclude Invite with Sweep of Pilots
LAS VEGAS – In its final match of the UNLV Invitational, Cal State Fullerton swept Portland, 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-20) on Saturday evening at Cox Pavilion.
The win is the Titans' first as they complete the first weekend of competition with a record of 1-2. With the loss, Portland dropped to 0-3.
The Titans attacked at their best clip thus far in the young season at .194 (35-15-103) as Julie Consani guided the offense with 32 assists. Freshman libero McKenna Painton led the defense with 14 digs.
Hensley was named to the all-tournament after averaging 3.0 kills and 3.27 digs per set.
Fullerton finished the tournament in third place, while Portland placed fourth. Kansas State's 3-2 victory over UNLV in the Invite's finale clinched the Wildcats the championship while UNLV finished second.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Friday, hosting the Fullerton Classic presented by the Holiday Inn of La Mirada. The two-day schedule of matches is listed below.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.FullertonTitans.com, over the phone, or at the Cal State Fullerton Athletics Ticket Office, which is located in the Titan House on campus off of Gymnasium Drive on the northeast side of Titan Gym.
