FULLERTON, CA -
Cal State Fullerton sophomore Tiffany Mai was named to the All-Big West Conference Women's Tennis Singles Honorable Mention Team for the second consecutive season according to a vote of the league's coaches released following the conference championships.
Mai, who also earned honorable mention honors in singles following her freshman season in 2010, competed the entire season at the top of the Fullerton ladder, sharing the team lead with 10 dual match victories and finishing 11-17 overall - an improvement of three wins over her freshman campaign.
The 10 dual match wins, a mark which she shares with freshman teammate Morgan McIntosh, are the most for a Titan since Gina Le and Mai-Ly Tran each won 11 in 2007. After opening the season with just one win in her first 12 matches, Mai closed the regular season on a second-half tear, going 10-6 during that span, including a team-best three wins over Big West opponents and wins in four of her final six matches overall.
Mai finished tied for second on the team in overall victories, second in dual match wins, and third in wins over regional opponents (7). In doubles play, she teamed up with three teammates to finish 12-18 overall, including nine wins at the No. 1 doubles spot alongside teammate Monica Rodriguez.
