Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton got off to a good start by winning the doubles point but visiting New Mexico State won all but the No. 1 singles match to capture a 5-2 non-conference women's tennis match Tuesday on the Titan Courts.
Tiffany Mai and Monica Rodriguez teamed up to win No. 1 doiubles and Monica de la Cruz and Karina Akhmedova won No. 3 for the first Fullerton point. Mai won No. 1 singles when Sophia Marks had to retire.
Fullerton (1-11, 0-4) returns to Big West Conference action this weekend with matches at UC Davis on Saturday and Pacific on Sunday.
