Titans Take It To Saints

Feb. 27, 2009

FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team (2-6, 0-2) picked up its second victory of 2009 with a 6-1 win over the Siena College Saints (2-4) in a non-conference match on Titan Courts Thursday.

The Titans got things started on the right foot when they won all three doubles matches to earn a point and go up 1-0 in the match.

The veteran team of Shelly Injejikian and Cheyenne Inglis took out Siena's top team in the No. 1 position 8-5. Brandy Andrews and Jaycee Cruz picked up an 8-3 win in their match in the No. 2 position. The newly formed team of Karina Akhmedova and Leslie Bullock appeared to gel in the No. 3 spot, cruising to an 8-2 victory.

In singles Bullock was the only Titans player to drop a match to the Saints. Siena's Sarah Mayer scored a 6-2, 6-3 straight sets victory over Bullock.

The rest of the Titans handled their business in the No. 2 through No. 6 spots, helping lift CSF to a much needed home court win.

In the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, Andrews and Inglis each only allowed their opponents to score one point in their respective matches.

The Titans play again when they host UCLA on Titan Courts, Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m.
