Titan Tennis Swept in Season Openers

SAN DIEGO, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team was shutout in its 2010 weather-delayed season-opening doubleheader, falling to hosts San Diego and No. 43 San Diego State by identical scores of 7-0 on Sunday in San Diego. Both the Toreros and Aztecs swept all three doubles contests in their respective matches against the Titans to take the early lead and then dominated singles play, winning all 12 singles matches in straight sets. Freshman Monica Rodriguez came the closest to taking a set, falling to SDSU's Alicia Aguilar, 7-5, in the opening set of their match before Aguilar closed out with a 6-1 win in the second set to clinch the point. Cal State Fullerton is idle until Feb. 5 when the Titans open Big West Conference play against Long Beach State at 2 p.m. in Long Beach, Calif. CAL STATE FULLERTON (0) at SAN DIEGO (7) |
