The University of San Diego women's tennis team kicked off its 2006 campaign with a dominating 7-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton Monday at USD's West Tennis Courts.
In doubles action, USD swept the competition. The duo of Emma Murphy and Lauren Perl started with a 8-4 win over Fullerton's Ruya Inalpulat and Gina Le. Jenny Brown and Helene Lindstrand followed suit as they served Mai-Ly Tran and Cheyenne Inglis a dominating 8-1 victory. San Diego's Brittany Reitz and Sophia Vogt finished the sweep with a 8-3 defeat over Shaghig-Shelly Injejikian and Ashley Dunbar.
In the singles competition, 58th-ranked Emma Murphy downed her competition as she defeated Inalpulat by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Torero senior Jenny Brown defeated her opponent (6-2, 6-2) and teammate Lauren Perl took a (6-3, 7-5) victory over Tran. Helene Lindstrand won her set with a (6-0, 6-2) victory over Fullerton's Inglis and freshman teammate Sophia Vogt defeated her challenger (6-4, 4-1). San Diego's Brittany Reitz completed the sweep of the Titans with her 6-2, 6-4 win over Injejikian.
