Fullerton Tops Colonials

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton swept doubles play, and went on to win four singles matches, opening  the week with a 5-2 victory over George Washington on Tuesday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.

With the victory, the Titans (8-8, 2-3 Big West) snap a two-match losing streak, while also putting an end to George Washington's (7-3, 2-0 Atlantic 10) six-match win streak.

The Titans started the match by winning all three doubles contests, easily claiming the doubles point.

In singles play, Tiffany Mai won her fifth match of the year at the top of the lineup, defeating Leah Pascarella, 6-1, 6-0.

At the No. 2 spot, Morgan McIntosh evened her record to 7-7 in 2013 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Lana Robins.

Sophomore Kalika Slevcove, tied for second on the squad with eight wins, defeated Dorota Lysienia, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 5 position in the lineup.

Megan Sandford also earned her eighth win of the year, handling Isabella Escobar, 6-2, 6-2, to round up the lineup.

Freshman Emilia Borkowski won her first set and had the lead in the second, before having to retire.

The Titans will return to action on Saturday, hosting Big West Conference foe UC Davis. The match will start at noon at the Titan Tennis Courts.
