FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton softball Head Coach Michelle Gromacki announced Wednesday that high school standouts Jasmine Antunez, Samantha Galarza, and Melissa Sechrest have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Titans beginning with the 2013 season.
"We are very excited about this incoming class of student-athletes," Gromacki said. "We couldn't be more confident that this recruiting class is one of the best we've had."
California natives Antunez, a 5-4 pitcher/outfielder from Garden Grove, and Galarza, a 5-5 utility player from Moreno Valley, join Arizona native Sechrest, a 5-foot-8, left-handed infielder/outfielder from Peoria, for the 2013 campaign as true freshmen.

"Jasmine is a special athlete who can play several positions, but the one we are most interested in is in the circle," Gromacki said. "Any pitcher, who can hit well, run well, and start in the outfield when she's not pitching is pretty special. She wants the ball and isn't afraid to compete. We can't wait to get a Titan uniform on her."
Prepped at Valley View HS in Moreno Valley... two-time first-team All-Inland Valley League selection as a freshman and sophomore... Inland Valley League MVP and All-CIF Division II selection as a junior after hitting .575 with 23 runs scored, seven extra base hits, and 13 RBI for the Eagles... currently plays travel ball for Minor's Gold, but helped her OC Batbusters 16u squad to an ASA national title and an ESPN Rise Premier tournament championship in 2010.
"Sam is a very talented athlete who excels at many positions, has played on championship teams, and knows what it takes to win," Gromacki said. "She brings with her leadership and a work ethic, two characteristics that make players around her better. She plays infield especially well, can also put the gear on and lead from behind the plate, as well as play in the outfield."
Played the last two seasons at Sunrise Mountain HS after competing her freshman season at Liberty HS... three-time Arizona 4A First-Team All-Region selection... two-time Arizona 4A All-State Honorable Mention selection as a freshman and sophomore and an All-State Second-Team choice as a junior... helped the Mustangs to a pair of 4A regional titles over the last two years and a 4A state runner-up finish as a sophomore... hit .560 as a junior while helping the Mustangs to a 26-3 overall record... also finished with 17 doubles, 45 runs scored, five home runs, and 51 RBI last year... hit .466 as a sophomore with 14 doubles, six home runs, 34 runs scored and 41 runs batted in... played travel ball for the Arizona Storm (Brun).
"Melissa is a left-handed first baseman with tremendous power at the plate," Gromacki said. "Her strong arm also allows her to be a threat in the outfield and we are confident that she will make an immediate impact her freshman year."
