Softball Signs Six for 2010 Season

FULLERTON, CA - Six high school players have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their softball careers at Cal State Fullerton beginning in the 2010 season the university announced on Friday.

Chelsey Anderson, Gabby Aragon, Ashley Carter, Latisha Dedeaux, Alexis Fascetti, and Ariel Tsuchiyama all submitted letters during the NCAA's early signing period.

"The Titans are excited to welcome this special class of athletes to our program," Associate Head Coach Dee Dee Kingsbury said. "Each of these players brings exceptional talent as well as experience at a high level in our sport. They will continue the Titan tradition and strengthen this squad as we look toward the future of our program. Our team will be immediately impacted by the contributions of these amazing young ladies."

Anderson helped lead Esperanza to the Sunset League title as a junior, earning second-team All-Sunset League honors in 2008. The Aztecs made a run into the CIF quarterfinals before falling to Simi Valley HS and ending their season with a 23-6-1 overall record and a 9-1 mark in league play.

She finished her junior season with an 11-3 mark in the circle in 95 innings, striking out 109 batters while walking just 21.

Aragon is a three-year varsity letter winner for Rancho Alamitos HS, earning All-Garden Grove League First-Team honors all three seasons. She has helped the Vaqueros to three straight Garden Grove League titles, sharing the crown during her freshman and sophomore seasons before winning the league outright as a junior in 2008.

She has hit better than .400 in each of her last two prep seasons, including a .468 mark as a sophomore to go with 27 runs scored and 25 RBI. As a freshman, Aragon batted .381 with 15 runs scored and 14 RBI.

Aragon currently plays travel ball with Jets Gold, but has seen success with numerous travel teams, helping the So Cal Athletics to a fifth-place finish at the 2008 ASA Nationals and a third-place finish at the Louisville Slugger Tournament in Colorado. She also helped the OC Batbusters to the Louisville Slugger title in 2007 as well as an ASA state tournament crown and a third place finish at nationals. In 2006, she was a pick-up player with the Batbusters, helping the team to a national title.

Carter has played the last three seasons at Bloomington HS, earning first-team All-Sunkist League honors three times, batting .455 with 37 runs scored and 15 steals while leading the team with 51 hits and gaining a spot on the All-San Bernardino County First Team as a junior. For her career, Carter is batting .441 with 88 runs scored, 52 RBI and 43 stolen bases.

Also a star in the classroom, Carter is a three-time Sunkist League Scholar-Athlete and has earned a spot on the Principal's Honor Roll three times.

Carter currently plays travel ball for Cal Lite under the direction of former Cal State Fullerton star Pam Newton.

Dedeaux is a three-year letter winner for Los Altos HS, earning All-CIF Second-Team honors as a junior in 2008 and helping the Conquerors to three straight Miramonte League titles. She has twice been named the team's Defensive Player of the Year while also earning Offensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore. Last season, she helped the Conquerors to a 21-6 overall record, batting .365 with 21 runs scored and 15 RBI.

As a sophomore, Dedeaux hit .494 to rank third in the league with 24 runs scored and 24 RBI. She ranked fourth in the league in RBI, tied for second in the league with five home runs, and second in the league with an .818 slugging percentage. Dedeaux also hit .387 as a freshman with 20 runs and 14 RBI.

She currently plays travel ball for the So Cal Athletics.

Fascetti has pitched the last three seasons at Vista Murrieta HS, helping the Broncos to the school's first-ever Southwestern League title and an appearance in the CIF quarterfinals as a junior while posting a 9-3 record in the circle with a 1.92 ERA. She ranked fourth in the league in ERA and fifth with 75 strikeouts while earning all-league second-team honors.

She currently plays travel ball for the Corona Angels.

Tsuchiyama has competed the last three seasons at Sonora HS, earning a trio of All-Freeway League honors - including first-team laurels as a sophomore and junior. Last season, she batted .500 for the Raiders with 21 runs scored and 10 RBI to go along with 13 extra-base hits (five doubles, six triples, and a pair of home runs).

A first-team All-CIF honoree as a junior, Tsuchiyama currently plays travel ball for the So Cal Wicked.
