Former Titans Win NPF Championship With Akron Racers

Aug. 30, 2005

FULLERTON, CA - Former Cal State Fullerton softball players Jenny Topping and Lindsey Bashor helped their professional team, the Akron Racers, to the 2005 National Pro Fastpitch championship on Sunday (Aug. 28) in Lisle, Ill.

The Racers, who finished as the No. 2 team in the league following the regular season, defeated the top-seeded Chicago Bandits (and another Cal State Fullerton alumna Gina Oaks) 5-4 in the championship game on the Bandits' home field.

Topping and Bashor join Oaks on NPF championship-winning teams after Oaks won the 2004 title with the New York/New Jersey Juggernaut.

Topping finished the championship game 1-for-3 with a double and a walk while Bashor was 1-for-4 with an RBI in the victory. Oaks was 0-for-0 with a run and an RBI, two sacrifices, and a stolen base.
