FULLERTON, CA -- - With the 2005 collegiate season come and gone, five former Cal State Fullerton softball players have opened the summer season on the rosters of National Pro Fastpitch squads.
Jodie Cox (2000-03) enters her second season in the pro ranks and her first with the defending NPF champion New York/New Jersey Juggernaut. Cox, who played last year with the California Sunbirds, is 3-0 with a 1.02 ERA this season while hitting .533 with a pair of doubles and three RBI through the team's first six games.
Jenny Topping (2001-03) ranks second among team regulars in average for the Akron Racers in her first professional season, hitting .500 with a pair of doubles, a home run and three RBI in four games.
Recently graduated Lindsey Bashor (2004-05) joins Topping on the Racers' roster and is picking up right where she left off with the Titans. Bashor, whose sister Jessica is playing this season for the Arizona Heat, is hitting .400 with a home run, five runs scores, four walks and three RBI.
Julie Watson (2001-04), an All-American for the Titans as a senior, begins her first professional season with the Texas Thunder, and was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored in the Thunder's season-opening win over Arizona.
Gina Oaks (2000-03) is entering her second professional season in 2005 and her first with the expansion Chicago Bandits. Oaks, who won the league title with the Juggernaut in 2004, has a pair of hits and has started one of the Bandits' first five games in the circle this season.
