FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton Head Coach Michelle Gromacki and her staff was named the West Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the fourth time in the last seven years as announced on Monday (July 3).
Gromacki, along with assistant coaches Dee Dee Weiman-Kingsbury and Gina Oaks, volunteer assistant Michelle Anunciation, and student assistants Crystal Medina and Monica Tantlinger, guided the Titans to a 37-24 overall record in 2006 and their fifth Big West Conference championship in the last seven seasons with a 14-4 record.
In seven seasons at the helm of the Cal State Fullerton program, Gromacki has been the head coach of three other NFCA West Region Coaching Staff's of the Year, previously earning the honor in 2000, 2002, and 2003.
Fullerton advanced to the postseason for the 24th time in 27 seasons last year, going 1-2 in regional play at Fresno State. The Titans placed a league-best four players on the All-Big West First Team and had the conference's Co-Field Player in the Year in junior outfielder Ashley Van Boxmeer.
