Month-Long Homestand Concludes With Trio of Non-Conference Games

FULLERTON, CA - After a difficult showing against some of the nation's top collegiate programs at last week's Judi Garman Classic, the Titans look to get back to their winning ways against a trio of non-conference opponents this week at Anderson Family Field. Fullerton opens the week with a single game against Utah on Wednesday evening (March 21) at 6 p.m. before hosting Ohio State and San Diego State in a pseudo-doubleheader on Saturday (March 24) beginning at noon.

ON THE AIR: This week's three games will all be broadcast live over the Internet at www.FullertonTitans.com with Mike Martinez handling the play-by-play. Gametracker will also be available for each contest.

IN THE POLLS: Despite going just 1-4 last week, the Titans continue to receive votes in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA coaches polls. Fullerton is receiving two votes in the USA Softball poll and six votes according to the NFCA standings this week.

PROGRAM REACHES WIN MILESTONE: With its victory over \#24 Florida State on March 17, Cal State Fullerton clinched the 1,200th win in the history of the program dating back to 1980. The Titans are 1,200-525-4 in the program's 27-plus seasons for a .695 winning percentage.

A LOOK AT THE UTES: Utah enters Wednesday's contest with a 17-8-1 overall record after being edged by No. 12 Washington, 3-1, on Tuesday on Fullerton's home field, snapping an eight-game winning streak for the Utes. Junior outfielder Diana Phillips leads the team with a .420 average to go with three home runs and 18 RBI. Freshman Kara Foster is having a stellar rookie season thus far, hitting .350 with nine home runs and 34 runs driven in. Senior Meghan Dyer is the ace in the circle, posting a 12-5 record with a 1.57 ERA and 151 strikeouts.

A LOOK AT THE BUCKEYES: Ohio State is in the midst of a six-day, six-game Spring Break roadtrip to California that began on Tuesday (March 20) with a 10-6 loss at Long Beach State. The Buckeyes will meet Loyola Marymount in a doubleheader on Wednesday in Los Angeles and Utah on Thursday in Fullerton before meeting San Diego State and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday. Ohio State is 14-11 overall, winners of five of its last seven, and is led offensively by Sam Marder, who is hitting .362 with seven home runs and 23 RBI. Kim Reeder leads the Buckeyes in the circle with a 9-3 record and a 1.96 ERA.

A LOOK AT THE AZTECS: The Titans' second Mountain West Conference opponent of the week, San Diego State enters the week with a 19-11 overall record with wins in each of its last six contests. The Aztecs take on No. 20 Georgia Tech at home on Wednesday before heading north to take on Ohio State and Cal State Fullerton on Saturday. Sophomore Melissa Owens leads the team in hitting at .391 to go with seven doubles, four home runs and 17 RBI. Christina Ross, in her second season with the Aztecs after transferring from Kansas, is 12-5 in the circle with a 1.24 ERA.
