FULLERTON, CA - Fresno State's Aja Scheuber finished 4-for-5 while Nicole Angene had three hits and drove in five to help the Bulldogs to a 15-4 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Friday afternoon at the 2008 Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field.

The Titans fell to 15-14-1 overall on the season (1-2 overall in the tournament) while FSU improved to 29-5 (3-0 in tournament play).

Fullerton, which committed four errors on the day, was led by sophomore Sheila Holguin's 3-for-4 day at the plate that included a double and an RBI. Junior Lauren Lupinetti added a three-run home run - her fourth of the season - to help pace the Titans' offense.

The game started as a pitcher's duel between Fullerton's Jessica Doucette (9-6) and Morgan Melloh (19-3) before the Bulldogs erupted for four runs in the fourth to take the early lead.

An infield single and a walk set the stage for Andrea Ortega, who doubled down the line in left to score pinch runner Mallory Perkins for the 1-0 lead. Angene then followed with a three-run home run to left in the very next at-bat to give FSU a 4-0 advantage.

After the Titans stranded a pair in scoring position in their half of the inning - including having a run wiped off the board due to an illegal substitution, the Bulldogs put up four more runs in the fifth thanks to RBI hits from Scheuber, Ashley White and Angene to give them an 8-0 lead.

Fullerton answered back in its half of the frame as Holguin doubled to drive home Ari Cervantes for the team's first run of the game and, after pinch-hitter K.C. Craddick was hit by a pitch to put two on, Lupinetti slugged a long ball over the left field fence, cutting the deficit to 8-4.

However, that would be as close as the Titans would get as Fresno State tacked on two more runs in the sixth an illegal pitch and an RBI single by Scheuber and five more in the seventh on a three-run double by Haley Gilleland and a two-run home run by Caitlin Stiglich for the final score.

Doucette suffered the loss for Fullerton, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings pitched. Melloh earned the win in the circle, allowing four runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out 10 in the complete-game effort.

Every Fresno State starter had at least one hit - five of those with multiple hits on the day - while the 15 runs scored by the Bulldogs were the most against Cal State Fullerton since 2001 when UCLA defeated the Titans 18-3 in the second game of a doubleheader.

Cal State Fullerton closes out play at the Judi Garman Classic on Saturday (March 21) with a doubleheader against Arizona and Florida State beginning at 1:30 p.m.
