LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cal State Fullerton continues to rake in the awards, as three Titans have been named to the National Pastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the organization announced on Thursday. Kelsey Kessler leads the way with First Team honors, while Delynn Rippy and Lexi Gonzalez were named to the Third Team.
The accolades honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the team, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
Kessler captures her second NFCA All-Region nod as she was named to the NFCA All-Midwest Region Third Team at Kansas after her sophomore season.
The pitcher received First Team honors for the first time as she finished regular season with a 1.46 ERA and a 19-7 record under her belt. Her leadership in the circle helped the Titans' become back-to-back Big West Champions, as she was named to the All-Big West First Team.
Gonzalez also received her second-straight NFCA All-Region nod, as she was named to the 2016 All-West Region Second Team last year. Gonzalez was the offensive force on the team, driving in 39 runs and smashing 10 homers on the year. Gonzalez was also selected for the Big West First Team for the second-straight year on Wednesday.
Rounding out the Titan honorees is Rippy who garnered her first NFCA All-West Region Third Team selection after registering a .358 batting average to go along with a .392 slugging percentage and a .386 on-base percentage. The senior out of Oceanside, Calif., has tallied 31 runs, 14 RBIs, six doubles and eight walks on the year.
The trio of Titans helped the squad post a 33-21 overall record as they head to the NCAA Los Angeles Regional this weekend in Westwood.
The 2017 NFCA Division I All-American teams will be announced on Wednesday, May 31 via NFCA.org.
