Los Angeles, Calif. - The Titans defeated the Loyola Marymount Lions on Thursday 4-2 at Smith Field. The Titans will travel back to LMU tomorrow for a double header to finish the three-game series.
Action took place in the bottom of the third inning when the Lions scored their first run off a base hit. The Lions then homered in the fourth innings to get their second run.
The Titans responded in the top of the sixth inning, when Delynn Rippy and Samantha Vandiver both singled to load first and second. Lexi Gonzalez stepped up to the plate and homered to bring in three runs and the lead for the Titans.
Ariana Williams continued the momentum in the top of the seventh inning with a single to get on base and then stole second. Williams advanced to third from a ground out from Delynn Rippy, only to be batted in by Lexi Gonzalez for the Titan's fourth and final run.
Starting pitcher Kelsey Kessler had two strike outs and Sydney Golden (1-4) recieved her first win for the Titans with zero runs, zero hits, and two walks. Rachel Farrington (3-6) took the loss for the Lions with seven hits on four runs, all earned.
The Titans will play again tomorrow at Loyola Marymount for a double header at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
