Busy Week Kicks Off Tuesday Against Hawaii

Sept. 29, 2008

FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team embarks on its busiest week of the season as the Titans host Hawaii in a non-conference match on Tuesday night (Sept. 30) at 7 p.m. before opening Big West Conference play at Titan Stadium.

Fullerton is riding the momentum of a 3-1 victory over San Diego State that saw freshman Stacey Fox net a pair of goals and senior Jenae Gibbens, who transferred from SDSU in 2005, tally her third game-winning goal of the season.

Hawaii (3-4-3 overall) is at the end of a three-game road trip that saw the Rainbow Wahine play to a 1-1 draw with Portland State and fall, 2-1, to No. 21 Washington in overtime. Each of the team's last four matches have gone to overtime.

Ambree Ako leads Hawaii in scoring with five goals and 12 points while five other players have found the back of the net multiple times. Kori Lu leads the way in net, posting a 1.53 goals against average and 35 saves in 10 starts this season.

Fullerton leads the all-time series with the Rainbow Wahine, 4-1, with all five meetings played in Fullerton.

Following the match against Hawaii, the Titans then gear up to open Big West play as they host Cal Poly on Friday (Oct. 3) at 7 p.m. and preseason favorite UC Santa Barbara on Sunday (Oct. 5) at 5 p.m. to close out the homestand.
