FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior goalkeeper Karen Bardsley was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon (Sept. 4) after helping the Titans to a share of the team championship at the California Invitational in Berkeley, Calif., over the weekend.
Bardsley, who was also named Co-MVP of the tournament on Sunday (Sept. 3), earned the honor for only the second time in her illustrious Fullerton career after winning her first honor back on Oct. 17, 2005, after a pair of shutout wins in net on the road against Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara.
The senior netminder turned away a combined 18 shots in two matches against Saint Mary's and No. 10 California, including a season-high 10 saves against the Gaels in the Titans' 2-1 victory. Bardsley also made eight saves to preserve a 0-0 tie against the host Golden Bears and keep Cal State Fullerton unbeaten on the year.
The Titans continue their eight-match September road trip this week with a single match on Friday (Sept. 8) at 7 p.m. at San Diego.
