Gibbens Earns Spot on National Honor Rolls

Sept. 3, 2008

FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior defender Jenae Gibbens was named to both the Soccer America and Soccer Buzz National Teams of the Week following her MVP performance at the California Invitational last week.

It is the senior's first appearance on the Soccer America honor roll and her second honor from Soccer Buzz - the first for a Titan player since Gibbens made the list on Sept. 19, 2007.

Gibbens, who was also named the Big West Conference Player of the Week on Monday, was named the MVP of the 14th annual California Invitational after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat nationally-ranked California and then leading the Fullerton defense to a 2-0 shutout of Saint Mary's.

After three straight road matches to begin the 2008 season, Fullerton competes in front of the hometown fans for the first time this weekend, hosting Alabama and No. 12 Santa Clara at Titan Stadium.

The Titans and Crimson Tide meet on Friday night (Sept. 5) at 7:30 p.m., while the clash with the Broncos will kick-off on Sunday (Sept. 7) at 1 p.m.
