FULLERTON, CA -- - Cal State Fullerton redshirt junior-to-be goalkeeper Karen Bardsley was selected as one of 18 players to compete with the England U21 National Team at the 2005 Nordic Cup which begins on Wednesday (July 20) in Sweden.
England is grouped with Norway, Finland, and host Sweden in the eight-country tournament, with the United States, Germany, Denmark, and Iceland comprising the other four-team pool.
England opens the tournament on Wednesday against Finland at 9 a.m. (PDT) in Grums, Sweden, before meeting Norway on Friday (July 22), and Sweden on Sunday (July 24).
The seventh-, fifith-, and third-place matches will all be held on July 26 at various sites at 3 a.m. (PDT) with the championship match to be held in Karlstad, Sweden, on July 26 at 7 p.m. (PDT).
Bardsley made her debut for England against Sweden in July 2003, and made her debut with the senior National Team at the 2005 Algarve Cup against Northern Ireland in a 4-0 victory.
She was also selected to the England U19 Women's National Team for the 2004 UEFA Women's U-19 Championships in Leipzig, Germany, helping England to the semifinals and playing all 360 minutes of England's four matches in the tournament.
