FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior Desiree Flint scored her second game-winning goal in as many matches and senior goakeeper Karen Bardsley made 10 saves on the afternoon as the No. 15 Titans opened the California Invitational with a 2-1 victory over Saint Mary's on Friday afternoon in Berkeley, Calif.

Fullerton improved to 2-0 overall on the season and will meet host and No. 10-ranked California on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Gaels fell to 1-2 overall on the season.

Flint, who also netting the game-winner in the Titans' 4-0 victory over Idaho in their season opener, scored unassisted at 74:43 to snap a 1-1 tie.

Bardsley made four saves in the final 11 minutes of the match and the Titans' defense turned away three corner kicks by the Gaels' offense to secure the win.

The goal snapped almost 70 minutes of scoreless soccer as Fullerton junior Candice Byler got the Titans on the board just 5:34 into the match off a pass from senior Erica Janke to make it 1-0.

Saint Mary's answered back just 20 seconds later as Nikki Schrey converted a pass from McKenna Belzer to tie things up.

The Gaels outshot the Titans, 12-9, on the afternoon and had seven corner kicks to Fullerton's three.

Byler, Lauryn Welch, and Stacey Thompson each had two shots to lead the Titans while the Gaels' Belzer and Allie Weiner had a match-high three shots to lead all players.
