BAKERSFIELD, CA - Cal State Bakersfield's Kassi Massey netted an unassisted goal in the fourth minute of overtime on Sunday afternoon to lift the host Roadrunners to a 2-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a exhibition contest between the two squads in Bakersfield, Calif.
Massey dribbled in on Titans' goalkeeper Shannon Simpson, moved to her right and one-timed a shot to the left side for the decisive strike in the 94th minute after CSUB battled back from an early first-half deficit.
Bakersfield, which outshot the Titans by a 12-11 count, evened the score in the 66th minute on a goal by Sarah Gaskins, who bent home a long strike to the far right post to tie the match at 1-1.
Simpson was busy in net for Fullerton, making seven saves on the afternoon while three different Titans had a pair of shots to pace the offense on the day.
Cal State Fullerton opens its 2008 regular season next weekend on the road as the Titans travel to Malibu, Calif., to take on Pepperdine on Saturday (Aug. 23) at 1 p.m.
