Osborne's Penalty Kick Lifts Broncos Past Titans

Feb. 16, 2005

Palo Alto, Calif. - Santa Clara's Leslie Osborne put home a penalty kick in the 24th minute on Sunday for the lone tally of the match as the Broncos defeated Cal State Fullerton at the Stanford Nike Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.

The Titans, who have lost their last four consecutive matches, fell to 2-5 overall on the season. The Broncos improved to 4-2-1 overall and were named co-champions of the tournament along with host Stanford.

Three of the five goals scored in the only two meetings between the two schools have come via the penalty kick - two of those by Osborne, who had the game-tying goal off a PK in the first-ever meeting back on Oct. 10, 2003.

Fullerton was outshot, 11-8, for the match, led by junior Kandace Wilson's three shots. Senior keeper Nicole Williams made three saves in the loss.

The Titans return to action this weekend as they close out a stretch of six consecutive matches away from home against Northern Colorado on Friday (Sept. 24) and Wyoming on Sunday (Sept. 26).
