Former Cal State Fullerton goalkeeper Karen Bardsley returns to the Titan Stadium pitch as the Titans' Volunteer Assistant Coach in 2007. The only keeper in Big West Conference history to be named Goalkeeper of the Year three times, Bardsley was a four-time All-Big West honoree, including three first-team honors from her sophomore through senior seasons. She was twice named to the NSCAA All-West Region team in 2002 and 2006 while also being named a Freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz. Bardsley, the 2002 Big West Freshman of the Year and four-time Big West Player of the Week, holds nearly every major career record at Cal State Fullerton, compiling 47 wins in net to go with a 0.84 goals against average, 312 career saves, and 26 shutouts in a record 6,395 minutes. Bardsley holds the top four single-season records for GAA and her 16 wins in 2005 are the most in school history. She also holds records with 10 shutouts in 2005 and 2,031 minutes played in 2006. This past summer, Bardsley competed with the Ajax America club in the Women's Premier Soccer League, helping her side to a WPSL Final Four appearance and an Open Cup championship at the 2007 USASA National Cup Finals in Seattle, Wash. |
