FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team has released its schedule for the 2013 season, which consists of seven NCAA Tournament qualifiers from a year ago and Titan Stadium as the host site for the 2013 Big West Conference Tournament.

"I am very excited about our 2013 schedule," Head Coach Demian Brown said. "We have some great challenges against some of the top programs and conferences in the country. The non-conference slate of games will definitely help us prepare for another challenging Big West Conference season and, potentially, allow us to gain both regional and national recognition."

By virtue of winning the league title in 2012 -- their fifth in the history of the program -- the Titans will also play host to the conference's postseason tournament for the third time overall and the first since 2007 when Fullerton used the championship as a springboard to the second round of the NCAA Tournament that season. The semifinals will be contested on Nov. 7 with the championship match to be held on Nov. 10.

"Hosting the Big West Conference Tournament is a tremendous honor," Brown added. "We are extremely grateful to the hard work and efforts of the 2012 Titans for allowing us to have this opportunity. Our team's goal this season is obvious, we look forward to playing in and winning the Big West Conference Tournament."

The Titans officially open the season on Aug. 23 on the road as they head to Provo, Utah, to take on BYU. The Cougars advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2012 before bowing out to eventual national champion North Carolina in double overtime, 2-1.

Fullerton then opens the home schedule just two days later on Aug. 25 against Fresno State in the first of three-straight home contests for the Titans that also features matches against Utah (Aug. 30) and Montana (Sept. 1).

A single-match trip to Lubbock, Texas, to meet Texas Tech (NCAA Second Round in 2012) follows on Sept. 6 before Fullerton returns home for another stretch of three matches against local rival LMU (Sept. 13) and NCAA Tournament teams Utah State (Sept. 15) and Washington State (Sept. 20).

Fullerton's non-conference schedule then closes out the month of September with road games at USC (Sept. 22) and Pepperdine (Sept. 27) and at home against Gonzaga (Sept. 29) before opening Big West play at home against Hawaii (Oct. 4) and defending Big West tournament champion Cal State Northridge (Oct. 6).

The Titans will also host UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 20) and UC Davis (Oct. 27) in conference play while traveling to meet UC Riverside (Oct. 13), Cal Poly (Oct. 18), Long Beach State (Oct. 31), and UC Irvine (Nov. 3).

Cal State Fullerton finished 10-9-1 overall and 7-2 in Big West play in 2012, gaining the championship match of the league's tournament before falling in overtime. The Titans, who opened the season 1-5, finished the year with a 7-2-1 overall mark in their last 10. They are expected to return 17 letter winners and five starters off of last season's squad, but lose the services of their top two scorers from a season ago in Stacey Fox (7 goals, 2 assists - graduated, now an assistant coach) and Ann Marie Tangorra (6 goals, 3 assists - graduation).

Christina Burkenroad and Erica Mazeau head-up the list of statistical returnees after both completed stellar 2012 campaigns. Burkenroad finished third on the team in goals (5) and points (12) while Mazeau was among the league leaders in assists (7). Overall, Fullerton returns just 15 of its 31 goals scored and 20 of its 29 assists from last season for 2013.
