Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's soccer senior Ann Marie Tangorra was named the offensive player of the week by the Big West Conference Monday afternoon for last weekend's performances against No. 1 Florida State and Creighton.
The Arcadia native was the offensive star for the Titans, scoring Fullerton's only two goals of the week.
The first came in the 12th minute in Tallahassee, answering a third-minute goal from the top-ranked Seminoles. That shot, her only one of the day, tied the match at 1-1. It was her first goal since the Titans' season opener on Aug. 17 against USC and it ended Florida State shutout streak of nearly 365 minutes.
On Sunday, Tangorra netted her second of the weekend – the game-winner – in the 89th minute on a pass from Jennifer Smith. She finished with seven shots on the weekend, with four of those on frame.
The forward has now had three consecutive matches with a point. She kicked off the point streak with an assist against No. 21 Oregon State on Aug. 30.
This is the second weekly honor of Tangorra's Titan career.
The Titans continue their five-game home stand this weekend as they host Long Beach State, Texas Tech and Army in the Under Armour Invitational at Titan Stadium. Fullerton will play Army, Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Texas Tech on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
